7 affordable things to do over the holidays with the kids :)

With my daughter starting pre school I was getting used to having a few hours to myself and her being occupied with activities and integrating with other children.

But now with the Easter holidays I find shes getting a little bored so we’re trying to do a little more stuff with her now over the 2 week break.

Next week we are off on a little holiday to Leitrem, so can’t wait for that 🙂 But until then here are a few places to visit to keep the kids entertained.

Showtime Cinema Limerick & Ashbourne.

Showtime cinema have Super Tuesdays & Wednesdays where all standard tickets are only €6 all day. They also have Kids Club opened all week for the morning with the movies Sing & Lego Batman with tickets priced at €3.50 🙂 Perfect outing if it’s a rainy day 🙂 For more information click the link below.

Coole Park Gort Co. Galway.

If the weather stays fine then Coole Park is beautiful place to spend a couple of hours. Lot’s of walks to be done and bring a long a picnic 🙂 We will definitely be going over the next week and will bring a long our daughters bike, she loves it! And it’s free entry! If you don’t fancy bringing a picnic theres a lovely cafe/restaurant with the most delicious cajun chicken wrap 🙂 I have a full blog on Coole Park in the link below 🙂

BarneyS Kidz Club Ennis County Clare.

My daughter is obsessed with BarneyS, it’s probably the best indoor play area shes been to as it has loads to do and the place isn’t too big so you won’t lose the kids lol 🙂 There is tea/coffee and food available and seating. They are offering great rates over the Easter holidays, €5 per child for 90 minutes until 12 midday and €6.50 per child from 12-6. My daughter always has loads of fun when we go here. For more information please see link below.

Go to the Playground 🙂

We have been to a lot of playgrounds so I will list some of our favourites below. The best things about the playground are it’s free and you can bring a picnic 🙂 Keep the kids entertained for at least an hour and you get some peace and quiet!

  • Newmarket On Fergus Co. Clare
  • Adare Co. Limerick
  • Mungret Park & Playground Co. Limerick
  • Ballina Co. Tipperary
  • Gort Co. Galway

Field of Dreams Sanctuary Kilfinane Co. Limerick

I’ve only just found this online and I definitely want to take Kayleigh here. It is run by Limerick Animal Welfare and it is open to the public Monday-Saturday 11am to 3pm free of charge. You can see cats, dogs, horses, rabbits, goats, pigs & chickens. This sounds fantastic and I am sure Kayleigh would love this and hoping you can make a donation whilst there. More information in the link below.

Chicken Run Easter Egg Hunt Kinvara Co. Galway

Running all Easter weekend (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) at 2pm and 4pm the Burren Nature Sanctuary have tasks and activities around the nature walk to earn stamps and then collect your Easter egg from the chicken! Sounds like great fun and is €12 per child. I am unsure if adults have to pay but you can contact them. More information in the link below.

We’ve been to The Burren Sanctuary and the place is just beautiful! Would highly recommend and I have a full blog post about our trip in the link below.

Visit the Easter bunny – Jetland SC Limerick & Dunnes Stores, Patrick St. Cork.

Visit the Easter bunny in his magical house for free and each child gets a free Easter egg 🙂 Ending 15th April 2017. Photos are available and you can purchase if you like, €12 for the first photo and €6 for each additional but I’m sure you can take a picture yourself 🙂

I hope you found this helpful and with the weather set to be good for this week anyway we might aswell make the most out of it! I am so interested in going to the Field of Dreams Sanctuary and think we may go there soon as it’d be great for Kayleigh and think they do fantastic work!

Hope everybody has a great Easter and thank you for reading 🙂

Ciara ❤

  1. Great list, we love Coole park and Kinvara is well within travel distance for us too. You are right, we forget how much we can do for free with the kids. It’s a good reminder.
