Galway Christmas Market.

Galway Christmas Market is a little Winter Wonderland located in and around Eyre Square Galway City.

My Daughter is really into Christmas and Santa this year so we knew we had to bring her.

It is Irelands largest and longest running festive market. It started on the 18th of November and will run through to the 22nd of December.

Located outside Supermacs there is several amusement rides including a Big Wheel, Helter Skelter and a traditional Carousel.

During the day there is a live choir, puppet shows, storytelling and much more.

The Helter Skelter instantly caught my daughters eyes as all she could see was a big slide!

I said I would go on it with her and realised half way up I may have a fear of heights lol but it was so much fun!! You slide down quite quickly and it definitely is an adrenaline rush (it was for me anyway) Kayleigh absolutely loved it, I was the bigger baby! The view from the top was amazing though, I had to take a picture.

She then went on the Carousel with Kyle which was lovely! It went on for a good bit and played Christmas music the whole time.

All amusements do charge.

We then went over to the market itself which is located in Eyre Square. It is so beautifully decorated with lights, gingerbread houses, reindeer etc.. It really made it feel like Christmas.

Santas Grotto is also located here which I am assuming is opened during the day.

Throughout the market there are lovely wooden chalets selling crafts, toys, jewellery, cosmetics and decorations. But what we really love is the food selection. We got a hot chocolate which was divine! They also have steak, burgers, chips, pastries, chocolates, mini doughnuts, bratwurst and so much more!! They also have a bar up by a fabulous Christmas Tree with a seating area inside. Would be brilliant for a Christmas night out!

We also did the Santa Train, which is so cute! Decorated with loads of lights and festive music playing. It drove around Galway City for about 20 minutes and we got to see all the Christmas lights. This was €5 per person but was worth it because Kayleigh had a ball!!

I would highly recommend a trip into Galway this December to really get into the Christmas spirit!

I would advise to have cash on you as theres lots that kids will want to do. It’s a small fortune but so worth it seeing the look on their faces.

We went when it was dark which made it seem so much more magical if that makes sense but if the kiddies want to see Santa I would advise going in before 4.

Best place to park is in the Corrib Centre Car Park, where Debenhams is located. It is literally just a 3 minute walk from Eyre Square.
