Kilkenny National Reptile Zoo :)

Myself and a friend wanted to take the kiddies off somewhere for the day. We wanted to go somewhere we’d never been before and a zoo seemed liked a good idea.

But a reptile zoo sounded even better 🙂

It is Irelands only reptile zoo that is open 10am – 6pm 7 days a week with over 50 exhibits.

It is located just outside Kilkenny City in Gowran Co. Kilkenny.

We went on a Friday and we arrived at about 1pm and there was a school tour. But it did not feel crammed at all. Just lots of laughter and kids fascinated with everything.

BANNER-FINAL

On arrival we were greeted by a lovely woman who was very informative on what we would see and ensured us that we would be able to encounter some animals face to face 🙂

Admission was extremely reasonable, for 2 adults and 2 children it was about €27.

They do offer group rates, just contact in advance. More information here >>>

From the moment you enter, the interior design really makes you feel like you are in the jungle 🙂

There are lots of reptiles to see as you walk along with very informative signage about each of them.

There is then a soft play area for the kids with table & chairs for the adults. Tea & coffee services are also available.

The kids would have stayed here hours, they were having so much fun!

I had some job getting my daughter out as there was much more to see 🙂

We then went on to the Tropical walk through habitat, which is quite warm but then again thats the climate the reptiles are used to.

This was probably our favourite bit, you could see alligators, snakes, tortoise and much more!

And there we were invited into the animal encounter zone with the reptile handler.

This place was even hotter lol our make up was sweating off our face lol but it was so worth it!

I didn’t catch the young mans name but the reptile handler was brilliant! He had very interesting facts about the reptiles and invited everyone to have a feel of certain reptiles.

And they also have an area where you can see snakes up close and personal but the kiddies wanted to go back to the play area 🙂

There is so much you can do there.

There is indoor & outside picnic facilities available.

And much more!

My daughter is 2 and my friends son is 6 and they both really enjoyed the day so it really is for all children.

It was quite a long drive down as we were travelling from County Galway and Limerick but it was definitely worth it!

Something different for us all to see and I would highly recommend 🙂

This place was also great because unfortunately the sunshine has gone so we wanted somewhere indoors and this was perfect!

Check out their website for more information >>> http://www.nationalreptilezoo.ie OR you can contact them on 056-7726757 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to read and hope this was helpful 🙂
